Just got out of the fabulous Avatar Studios here in NYC after recording with the incredible Chimene Badi, and my friend Scott Jacoby producing. I have to say, I'm really inspired by the music and the musicians I had the privilege of working with on this project.
In a last minute whirlwind, I got called to open for the legendary Don Henley with JD & The Straight Shot for a few weeks. I'll be joined by Charley Drayton (Drums), Adam Levy (Guitar), Zev Katz (Bass) and Brian Mitchell (Keyboards), alongside front man "JD" Jim Dolan. Come on out to a show if you're in one of the towns we're visiting!
Tickets are available online for the following dates:

Last night we ended the Billy Squier tour in NYC . A big note of thanks for everyone who came out and supported us over the past few months! I had a blast on the tour - and who wouldn’t, considering I got to play through a cranked 100-watt amp every night!
This week I will be heading into the studio to play on French superstar Chimene Badi’s new record. Check her out: http://chimenebadi.artistes.universalmusic.fr/
Looking forward to getting out on tour and playing songs from my new album, which will be officially released by UFO Music in the new year!

Just played a great show in Tacoma and heading to Vegas tomorrow. Hope the audience in Vegas is as enthusiastic as the crew in Tacoma!
In gear geek news, I had the honor of being given a guitar by the “master blaster” himself, Bill Nash. I’ve been using a blue Esquire-type guitar he made for this entire tour, which is amazing, and had been complaining that same day about my white Strat sounding lame. In a case of extreme good fortune, Bill showed up at soundcheck, presenting me with a stunning 50's Strat style Nash that laid waste to the Fender within seconds of plugging it in.
So, this blog is dedicated to my friend Bill Nash for the incredible talent he has for building inspiring instruments. Thanks, Bill!

The second leg of the Billy Squier tour has begun! This leg will be taking us around the Midwest a bit and heading west through California, Oregon, and Washington. I'm excited to say my friend and collaborator Joe Magistro is joining us on drums for the first couple weeks of the tour. Joe co-produced, mixed and played drums on my new CD, as well as co-wrote the song "Disarray" - it's a blast having him out here!
In gear geek news, I'm looking forward to having Bill Nash at our Tacoma show. He's the gent who made the blue Esquire that I've been using a bunch on the tour and is one fine guitar maker.
We also went out to the Cleveland Indians game and I'm now one step closer to actually singing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" at the 7th inning stretch for a pro game. Hahaha. (not sure if that's good thing or not)
Hope to see you all out there!

Psychedelic today.
Traveled overnight on the bus to Lake Ozark, MO. Bad sleep, bumpy roads, etc. but got to Lake Ozark, MO and have the nicest hotel room of the whole tour (at the Yacht Club), overlooking the lake. I'm feeling the spirit of Thurston Howell III. Maybe I'll go buy a sweater with an alligator on it. Or maybe just wear my Iggy and the Stooges shirt down to the pool and get some chicken wings and a drink with an umbrella in it.
Next stop... Sturgis with Cheech and Chong.

Hey all: Out here in Dayton, OH on week 5 of the Billy Squier tour. I'm not sure what day it is, but just officially confirmed that in fact, we are in Dayton and I am not hallucinating this.
I just found out that my new album is in the Top 25 on the website Amie Street (http://www.amiestreet.com). This is exciting news since the CD hasn't even been officially released yet! We have been discussing the release for late fall/winter but I guess that may change now. And really, in this day and age, is there even such a thing as an "official release"? Just go and download the damn thing I say... official or not, I appreciate you all listening to it!
Being a big baseball fan and having a brother who happens to be a Major League Baseball scout is working out for me so far. I'm heading out tonight to see the Dayton Dragons play and just saw the Columbus Clippers last week. Fun stuff. I decided I would tour as many Minor League baseball parks as I could while out on tour. I'm only up to two now, but I'm sure more will follow, as will the hot dogs are beer!
Heading to Sturgis next week and I can't wait. Cheech and Chong are on stage before us!
Spark 'em up,
Marc
